Hello Friends,

It is a phenomenon that those of us who are older can attest to – that time goes by faster and faster the older we get!    And so, as far as I’m concerned the end of October has arrived way too soon!   I am already well into thinking about plans for Advent & Christmas.   Here are the events/services for Advent (which begins November 27th).

  • We will celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion on November 27th.
  • Our Annual ‘Carol Sing’ will take place on Sunday, December 11th at 7:00 pm.
  • On Sunday, December 18th at 3:00 pm. we will have a ‘Blue Christmas’ Service.
  • At long last it appears we can actually have a Christmas Eve Service in person!!   It is scheduled for 7:00 pm. (Saturday, Dec. 24th)
  • Christmas Day falls on a Sunday this year.   A worship service will take place if there is enough interest.    If you are interested in attending a Christmas Day worship service (perhaps offered later in the morning at 11:00 am.) please let me know by November 13th.

I will be offering an Advent Study entitled ‘Names for the Messiah’ utilizing a book by Walter Brueggemann, an ordained minister in the  United Church of Christ,  professor at Columbia Theological Seminary, and renowned author.  The focus will be on the names that come out of chapter nine of the book of the prophet Isaiah and are associated with the Advent/Christmas season:   Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  Among the questions we will look at are: What do these names signify?  What were the expectations of Jesus associated with these titles; Did Jesus fulfill them?  Which of these names/titles or other names/titles Jesus is known by, resonate for you?  Who is Jesus for you?  We will gather once a week for 4 weeks, possibly Saturday mornings at 10:30 to noon.  If you are interested feel free to speak with me, or email me.

Blessings, Rev. Bob
