This Sunday, Cheryl will be leading worship as we begin exploring one of Jesus' favourite themes: the Kingdom of God—or perhaps, as many prefer to say today, the Kin-dom of God. What was Jesus talking about when he spoke of God's reign among us? Is it a place, a way of living, a vision for community, or something more? Join us as we begin the conversation together.
Looking ahead to Sunday, June 28, we are excited to welcome Thea Sheridan-Jonah, the newly elected President of Pacific Mountain Region, as our guest preacher. Following worship, CSUC will host a simple lunch and a conversation with Thea and representatives from other United Churches on the Peninsula. Thea is coming not only to share in worship, but also to listen—to learn about our congregation, our hopes and challenges, and to hear from United Church communities across the Peninsula. We hope there will be a great turnout from CSUC as we welcome our guests and participate in this important opportunity for conversation and connection.
We're also trying something a little different at Wednesday Web this week. Instead of our usual current affairs discussion, we'll launch a new book exploration group. Fear not—you don't have to read a book this week! Simply come prepared to answer this question: If you were stranded on a desert island for a year and could take only three books with you, what would they be? Together we'll share our favourites and help shape what this new book adventure might become.
As always, our Saturday Community Lunch offers good food, warm conversation, and a welcoming place for all. We hope you'll join us for one—or all—of these opportunities to connect.
And if you'd like to talk, have a question, or simply need a listening ear, please reach out. We are always glad to hear from you.
Blessings,
Cheryl and Sandi
