Central Saanich United Church is an amalgamation of two congregations (Brentwood Bay United Church and Shady Creek United Church) that have come together as an entirely new congregation – with exciting new possibilities!
You have found us in a time of change:
Since January 2024 we have engaged in a Team Ministry, coordinated by the Rev. Cheryl Black, and including as Sunday Supply Worship Providers: Cheryl Black, Rev. Nick Parker, Rev. Sandi Parker DLM, and Rev. Allan Saunders. Each leads one service per month, supplemented by congregant leadership when necessary.
Sunday Services have returned to our hertitage Sanctuary and on October 5th, 2024 we welcomed the communituy to the modern new annex called Shadywood Hall.
The historic bell from the Brentwood Bay United Church (previously merged with Central Saanich United Church) rang on Easter Sunday 2025 thanks to the generous support of the Tidman Family.
We trust you may feel the 'touch' of grace, respect, and companionship in our gathering together in worship and in fellowship.
Peace be with you.
We are overwhelmed with gratitude.
When our little country church was broken into, our AV equipment stolen, and our sanctuary damaged, we were heartbroken. Our insurance had a very high deductible, and we weren’t sure how we would recover. And then you showed up. Nearly 90 people—some we know, some complete strangers—have contributed through this GoFundMe page. Others have donated directly to our church. Every gift, message, and prayer has lifted our spirits and helped restore not just our building, but our faith in community.
Because of your generosity:
• Vintage Woodworking donated the repair of our sanctuary window—using 130-year-old glass to match the original heritage panes.
• Lumera Lighting is donating and installing new AV equipment.
• A donor has stepped forward to provide a new security system—something we’ve never had before.
We’re so moved by the kindness around us. Through all of this, our congregation has continued to host free Saturday lunches, Sunday worship gatherings, and our partnership with Almost Home daycare. This experience has shown us the beautiful web we are part of. We are not alone—and for that, we thank you.
With heartfelt gratitude, Central Saanich United Church (formerly Shady Creek United)
